Electric motor racing meets extreme environments
The global launch of a radical new electric motor race series called Extreme E took place on Thursday 31st
January and our communications team were there to ensure maximum media exposure of the exciting new sport and entertainment concept.
Extreme E will see electric SUVs racing in some of the world’s most remote locations, including the Artic, the Amazon Rainforest, the Himalayas, the Sahara Desert and an island in the Indian Ocean. The aim is to showcase electric SUVs performing in extreme environments across the world, whilst at the same time playing a key role in raising global awareness of the impact that human-caused climate change is having in each race location.
Over 50 media attended the launch which took place on the RMS St Helena which was docked on the River Thames especially for the occasion (the 7000-ton vessel is to be transformed into a ‘floating paddock’ for Extreme E).
Media experienced a presentation from the four key spokespeople behind Extreme E: Founder & CEO, Alejandro Agag; Chairman, Gil de Ferran; Chief Explorer, David Mayer de Rothschild and Artistic Director, Fisher Stevens. The event resulted in over 130 pieces of media coverage from 20 different markets. The first Extreme E race will take place in January 2021.
