Falcons host record-breaking Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup
Last weekend, Newcastle Falcons hosted the largest ever Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, which provided the perfect curtain raiser for their historic Premiership match against Northampton Saints, at St. James’ Park. Our team helped organise the experiential element of the day, setting up a Land Rover activation area for all parents and players to enjoy.
In the morning before ‘The Big One’, over 800 children from 79 grassroots teams descended on Kingston Park in what is the testimonial season of the Land Rover Cup. Under the watchful eye of Newcastle Academy centre Charlie Wilson, himself a former tournament participant, Haughton U11's and Blaydon U12's won their respective competitions and will embark on a trip to Twickenham Stadium this May to watch the Aviva Premiership Final, and participate in the half time parade.
The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is a series of national grassroots rugby festivals for U11 and U12 rugby teams. Run in conjunction with all twelve Premiership Rugby clubs, the regional rugby events are an essential part of the UK rugby calendar. By the end of this testimonial season, 82,000 youngsters will have participated in the tournament; enough to fill Twickenham Stadium! Stay tuned for a wrap-up at the end of the series.
