HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series rolls on in Australia and New Zealand

After a successful start to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Dubai and Cape Town, the series made its way down under for back-to-back tournaments in New Zealand and Australia. This provided us with an action-packed couple of weeks delivering the HSBC New Zealand Sevens and the HSBC Sydney Sevens.

In New Zealand, HSBC put on shared hospitality with New Zealand Rugby in Hamilton, offering guests a Money Can’t Buy experience including an HSBC exclusive tour of the stadium by World Rugby and player appearances. A particular highlight of the tournament was witnessing the victorious Fijian team hoist the HSBC Ball Carrier into the air before the final against USA, providing for an epic photo.

Just a week later, the show rolled on to Australia, where the HSBC Sydney Sevens had a fresh new look in its new home at Spotless Stadium, Sydney Showground. We delivered a full VIP hospitality program which included exclusive Q&A’s throughout the weekend from HSBC Ambassadors, including Rugby Sevens legends Ed Jenkins and DJ Forbes giving invaluable insights into the shorter version of the game. On the pitch, after two consecutive tournament wins for the Fijian team, it was the turn of the All Blacks Sevens to take home the trophy.

We also managed a number of activations and competitions in the lead up to the tournament allowing winners the opportunity to experience the HSBC Hot Seat. The party continued into the night for sevens fans with the HSBC Sydney 7’s festival tent featuring artists DJ Tigerlily and Yolanda Be Cool topping off the great vibes on and off the field. Next stop will be Las Vegas at the beginning of March.
