Phoenix to Daytona
The 2023 “season” for the Verizon team started earlier than usual and included more than just racing. February was a whirlwind that saw our teams activate two of the biggest events in the world, the NFL Super Bowl and NASCAR’s; Daytona 500.
As we enter the 15th year of our partnership with Verizon, we continue to focus our efforts on creating and delivering customer engagement experiences supporting these key partnerships. The team spent months developing the schedule and supporting events that helped extend the engagement opportunities with key customers well beyond the feature event.
Super Bowl LVII was a significant undertaking with a nine-month planning window, multiple site visits, registration of vehicles, and countless planning and design hours that culminated in a phenomenal event. Other key deliverables included:
- Hotel management
- Off-site venue management
- Technology integration
- Branding and décor
- Food and beverage
- Talent recommendation and integration
- Gifting and amenities
- Transportation
With this year’s Super Bowl being hosted in Arizona, we were able to use our motorsports experience to integrate several key moments into the hospitality programme. Prior to guests arriving, Verizon announced a multi-year contract extension with Team Penske that will see them return as primary sponsor of the No. 12 Chevrolet, driven by Will Power.
We also hosted an exclusive meet-and-greet and dinner with Will and the team later in the week at the Penske Museum, located in Phoenix. The team shared insights on how these two brands have forged such a strong partnership and on display, providing a stunning back drop, was the 2018 Verizon Chevrolet that Will Power piloted to an Indianapolis 500 win and the 2022 Chevrolet he drove to capture his second INDYCAR Championship.
Less than a week later, members of the team packed up and made the 2,000+ mile trip to Daytona Beach, Florida for the launch of the 2023 NASCAR season. Our team was on-site to deliver a race day-event for the Daytona 500 showcasing Verizon’s upgraded Wi-Fi connectivity project with NASCAR.
Guests were given a race-day tour and treated to a meet-and-greet with Team Penske driver, Joey Logano. The highlight of the day was the behind-the-scenes look at the key technology and Wi-Fi infrastructure implemented throughout the track’s infield, grandstand; and suite areas. Daytona International Speedway is now one of the largest U.S. venues with outdoor Wi-Fi.
The team hasn’t stopped, we continue to support other programming and have shifted focus to Month of May planning that culminates in the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500.
