Lidl GB Celebrates Pride
On 27th May, our UK team were stationed at Birmingham Pride supporting Lidl GB who were the Official Partner of the Parade. Taking place over the late May bank holiday in the UK, the parade journeyed from Centenary Square to Gay Village, as Lidl showcased their pride-themed open-top LED bus. With more than 50 of their colleagues on board, Lidl, with the support of the Live team, were able to create an unbelievably eye-catching sight.
Alongside the parade, the Live team were also on hand to help build a bright and colourful Lidl activation at the Smithfield site in the city centre to promote Lidl’s fresh offering. There were fresh fruit skewers on the menu, and attendees were also offered the chance to whip up their own mocktails on our mocktail bikes. Overall, it turned out to be an incredible weekend, celebrating love, life and liberty.
Traversing Europe with UCI
The month of May also saw the Live team begin its first year supporting the UCI Mountain Bike World Series with the first block of six events taking place over as many weeks in four different countries. The tour started in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic, followed by a short break before heading to Finale Ligure, Italy, which preceded five weeks of non-stop touring.
Two 40t trucks of equipment traveled between each venue to support a dedicated team of crew who battled mountainous terrain at each site to install over 30 inflatables, around 2,000 metres of scrim, 300m of barriers, start/finish gantries and towers, as well as special structures at each event. When gators and quad bikes weren’t available to transport equipment up mountains crew traveled some 100km on e-bikes with 30kg of equipment on their backs to ensure the event came to life.
The next stop in the calendar at the end of August takes the team non-stop from Andorra to France before heading straight to North America for the final two stops of the season.
Transforming Portland International Raceway
Saturday 24th June saw Formula E’s make its bow in Portland for race twelve of the Season 9 Calendar! The new host venue, Portland International Raceway (first opened in 1961), has been home to regular drag races and the Rose Cup since 1965, but this weekend saw the Gen3 cars debut in the snow peaked surrounds of Oregon. They certainly lived up to expectations, racing wheel to wheel around the 3.08km track!
Once again, the team delivered fantastic branding around both the racetrack and venue. This involved dressing the existing venue and temporary structures with 6km of eyelet free scrim, over 240 flags, 5.4km of track vinyl and 2.4km of sustainable and reusable trackside boards, plus much more.
With just two race weekends and four races left in Season 9, the 2023 finale at London Excel promises to be an electric celebration of everything Formula E!
