Multiple Activations at Twickenham as World Sevens Series Hits London
The ninth leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series took place from the 2-3 June at Twickenham Stadium and saw Fiji win their 4th
leg in a row, which left everything to play for in the final round of the Series in Paris.
On the ground we delivered HSBC’s title sponsorship and two full days of activation for HSBC customers and rugby sevens fans. The activity focused on HSBC VIP hospitality with a host of money can’t buy experiences for guests plus appearances from HSBC ambassadors Brian O’Driscoll, Sir Chris Hoy, Ben Ryan, Maggie Alphonsi, David Flatman and the England Sevens Team.
A purpose built HSBC Customer Lounge in the West Car Park had over 3,000 visits and showcased the new HSBC Connected Money app. We also delivered a ‘best seat in the house’ experience, the HSBC Hot Seat, to reward HSBC guests, customers and fans through social competitions and the HSBC Dance Cam.
On top of that, all stadium branding at Twickenham for the penultimate leg of the World Series was provided by us, including pitch side branding for major sponsors, as well as all RFU and HSBC branding around the stadium and fan village.
As part of HSBC’s commitment to growing the game of rugby, the two teams who reached the Rosslyn Park HSBC National Schools Sevens U18 Girls final were invited to an exclusive breakfast and the opportunity to re-play each other on the famous Twickenham pitch.
The Series culminated with an exciting finish in Paris from the 8-10 June. It has been one of the most competitive seasons on record as both the women’s and men’s Series were decided by just two-point differences. South Africa defied all odds in the men’s competition to regain the Series for a second year, with Australia snatching the Series from New Zealand in the women’s tournament. Attention now turns to the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco from 20-22 July.
