Mental Health Awareness Week

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, we sat down with three of our Mental Health First Aiders to find out a little bit about who they are, why they decided to undertake the training and how they look after their own wellbeing. Find out what they had to say, below.

Tell us about yourself

I joined our CSM Live team, based in Basingstoke, UK, in February 2019 as an Account Manager. Since 2021, I have been seconded to the Experiential team, helping with the delivery of Carr’s Pub In The Park and Flora at the London Marathon. I am now a Senior Account Manager, heading up our Universities account, and looking after our Royal Collection account for Buckingham Palace.

What made you want to train as a Mental Health First Aider?

I suffered with my own mental health after having my second daughter, which felt quite isolating. I would hate for anyone else to feel that way without thinking there was someone they could talk to, who would also not judge them, as I have lived experience of it myself.

How do you look after your own wellbeing?

I try to practice mindfulness and sometimes meditation. Mostly, I like to get to the gym or get out for a walk with my dog to clear my head when things feel too overwhelming. Cooking can also be quite therapeutic, and I like experimenting with different recipes.

Tell us about yourself

I joined CSM’s London office in November 2021 as Head of Creative Services and I manage the Brands Creative Team.

What made you want to train as a Mental Health First Aider?

I wanted to train as a MHFA because I have had family members struggle with their mental health journey in the past. Learning beneficial ways to help and more importantly when to step back or refer to a professional have been crucial for me, as I like to think I can fix everything.

How do you look after your own wellbeing?

Being outdoors does wonders for my wellbeing, whatever the weather. I also find a gym class, no matter how brutal it may be, always sets me up for the day in the best frame of mind. Additionally, I find cooking a very therapeutic process even through the end result can be a bit hit and miss!

Tell us about yourself

I’m a Junior 3D Designer in the Event Tech team based in Orpington, UK. I joined CSM a little over a year ago and surprisingly, I’m still finding myself getting to know new people each day!

What made you want to train as a Mental Health First Aider?

I decided to become a Mental Health First Aider because difficult conversations are something I have never shied away from, and I wanted to develop those skills. Through lived experiences, I have found I am more in tune and aware of my own mental health and the wellbeing of those around me.

How do you look after your own wellbeing?

I look after my own wellbeing in a multitude of ways – from meditating every day (even though I used to hate the idea of meditating), coffee dates, prioritising my hobbies and limiting my social media and news intake.
