All-girls training session marks International Women's Day
Friday 8th March marks International Women’s Day 2019 and we helped Land Rover to celebrate female success in rugby union through its work with HITZ. We took Land Rover ambassador and World Cup winner Maggie Alphonsi to assist Jade Whale, a rising young English coaching talent, in leading an all-girls rugby session in Bath.
The training session was put on for female participants of HITZ, a national social inclusion programme, supported by Land Rover, that uses the power of rugby to inspire and motivate young adults back into education and employment. Currently preparing for her Level 2 Rugby Coaching qualification, 19-year-old Whale is one of the many success stories from the HITZ programme.
Before starting the programme, Jade suffered from low self-confidence and motivation during her school years. Leaving education with one GCSE, everything changed when she joined HITZ.18 months later, she now plays for Bath Rugby Ladies, and is a coaching apprentice for the Bath Rugby Foundation.
HITZ has been supported by Land Rover since 2013, and we have managed this CSR initiative during that time.
