The global launch of the new and innovative racing league
This week we managed the global launch of SailGP, a new racing league that is set to reinvent the sport of sailing. SailGP, spearheaded by Larry Ellison and Sir Russell Coutts, will bring intensely competitive, high-speed inshore racing to fans in Sydney, San Francisco, New York, Cowes, and Marseille, as world-class crews compete for the championship trophy and a $1 million prize.
Kicking off in Sydney in February 2019, the inaugural season will feature national teams from Australia, China, France, Great Britain, Japan and the USA. The launch, executed through a wide CSM agency collaboration, took place at Tower Bridge in London, and provided a spectacular platform to announce the Great British team, led by Dylan Fletcher.
Following the formal programme hosted by ITV’s Ben Shephard and featuring addresses by Ellison, Coutts, and members of the Great Britain SailGP Team, a visual and sensory display provided a first look at what SailGP will bring to audiences around the world.
Following the launch, as the appointed global communications agency, we will lead local markets in the execution of USA, Australia, France, Japan, and China team launches.
