Team Emirates host training camp

Ride along & cycling clinic wraps up successful season

To celebrate the end of a successful UCI World tour season, UAE Team Emirates recently hosted a training camp in the UAE. This was the first time since the team’s inception in 2017 that the full line-up had been to the UAE, complemented by a handful of riders who will join the team for the 2019 season.
Working closely with the riders and staff, we used this as an opportunity to showcase the team’s ongoing commitment to developing cycling in the region. As part of the five-day camp, there was a ride along with over 40 budding cyclists from Abu Dhabi Cycling Club (ADCC). ADCC recently struck a partnership with UAE Team Emirates and will see them work hand-in-hand to develop cycling in Abu Dhabi.

At the opposite end of the cycling spectrum, riders joined over 50 youngsters aged 4-16 years-old at Al Yasmina School, Abu Dhabi to host an introduction to cycling clinic – an initiative that will form the basis for the next phase of the team’s Youth Academy. Tour de France stage winners, Dan Martin and Alexander Kristoff gave youngsters advice on how to improve their riding technique, whilst UAE National Champion, Yousif Mirza looked thrilled to join the school’s youngest pupils on balance bikes.
Each activation was attended by key media titles in the region, with strong editorial and broadcast coverage being published in the week following the training camp.
