The AFC Asian Cup 2019, hosted in the UAE, was the largest sporting event ever witnessed in the region, taking place in eight stadiums across four host cities, truly suceeding in its aim of 'Bringing Asia Together'. Across the month-long tournament, 24 nations battled it out for the right to be crowned the best team in Asia.
It was Qatar who eventually emerged on top, defeating Japan in an entertaining final which brought the Arabic nation their first ever AFC Asian Cup trophy. Throughout the competition, our team in the Middle East were on hand to provide an exceptional experience for competitors and spectators alike, including dressing the Zayed Sports City Stadium for the final - the showpiece event of an historic tournament.
We worked closely with the local organising commitee to set the stage for the competing nations, creating the perfect platform for some of Asia's finest footballers to showcase their talent. Our work helped enhance an extraordinary experience for players, fans and all those involved.
Our scope of work took in the two largest stadiums used during the competition - Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi and Hazza Bin Sayed, Al Ain. Relying on our experience in dressing major events, as well as the recent knowledge of the region we had gained whilst working here on behalf of FIFA, we created an environment fitting for a tournament of this stature.
The final itself witnessed 35,000 spectators turn up to the Zayed Sports City Stadium to see Qatar triumph over Japan and we provided a brand new, custom fit-out to mark the special occasion. Away from the stadiums, we were also responsible for decking out 16 training grounds and designing each nation's team bus.
The AFC Asian Cup 2019 was beamed to millions of people worldwide, and was acclaimed as the 'most engaging' tournament to date. The striking branding we produced injected vibrancy into the tournament experience, enhanced the viewing of matches and played a strong part in the overall success of the competition.
