Since their inception a little over 18 months’ ago, our newly formed Active division have been busy creating mass participation event platform consisting of scaled, CSM owned events across both running and cycling.
CSM have taken the running market by storm with the introduction of adidas City Runs – a major new closed road running series for the capital. Working closely with adidas, City Runs’ title partner, the Active team are creating brand new closed road running events in iconic London locations. The aim is to unlock and celebrate London’s most unique neighbourhoods, bringing both beginner and seasoned runners together for an unrivalled closed road running experience.
The first adidas City Run took place on Sunday 8th
October in Shoreditch and saw 5,000 runners pound the traffic free streets of the vibrant East London borough. With Tom Daley dishing out high fives on the start line, the Active team ensured that a party atmosphere was felt in the race village right throughout the morning. DJs sets from adidas ambassador Adrienne Herbert and TV personality AJ Odudu got the party started, whilst street food stalls, street artists and Yoga sessions from The Private Yogi gave the inaugural run a truly East London festival feel. As part of their package, runners could refuel tired legs using exclusive discounts at Shoreditch’s best restaurants and hangouts including Dirty Burger, Queen of Hoxton and Bounce.
With the Shoreditch 10K such a resounding success, adidas City Runs are fast gaining notoriety within the London running community. With four events in four unique locations, CSM Active and adidas are taking adidas City Runs to a whole new level in 2018, becoming London’s biggest closed road running event series in the process.
The first adidas City Run of 2018 is the inaugural Fulham 10K which takes place on March 18. Starting and finishing on the Kings Road adjacent to the Event Village in EelBrook Common, highlights of the Fulham 10K route include the iconic King’s Road, the world-famous Stamford Bridge Stadium and Parsons Green. Runners will also experience motivating DJ trucks on Fulham Road that will keep them pumped up on their way to the Parsons Green finish line.
Lee Gibbons, Senior Director, Sports Marketing at adidas commented:
“The Shoreditch 10K proved such a resounding success that we’re delighted to announce the return of the adidas City Runs race series in 2018, kicking off with the Fulham 10K. With thousands of runners, great entertainment and a buzzing atmosphere we’re sure that Fulham will leave runners excited for the next instalment in 2018!
Jon Ridgeon, Executive Chairman at CSM Active, part of CSM Sport & Entertainment, said:
“We’re extremely excited to continue working with adidas on this brilliant series of running events. We’ve already seen one incredibly successful race, which allowed over 5,000 runners to take to the streets of Shoreditch, and are looking forward to the series continuing to grow and develop throughout 2018, starting with Fulham.”
