Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee

Developing an elite performance strategy

The Saudi Olympic Team had been under-performing at major events, coming 19th in Asian Games Medal Table in 2014 – their lowest position for over two decades.  We were tasked to plan, design and implement an Elite Performance Strategy for the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, in order to improve Team Saudi’s medal count at future events, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

A bespoke project team, selected for their extensive knowledge and experience in the field of high performance sport - including a partnership with elite sport specialists from Loughborough University - provided an invaluable combination of strategic input, technical advice and practical support. This team has continued to support KSA high performance sport throughout an “implementation phase” to help the team prepare for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

We developed a new High Performance strategy for Saudi Arabian Sport. This included a Podium Strategy – which analysed the specific sports that Saudi should invest in – the recruitment of a Performance Director, and the set-up of a new Insights and Monitoring team.
