National Grid

Delivering the Royal opening of London’s new £1bn energy superhighway

As part of a seven-year project to rewire the capital, National Grid recently flicked the switch to energise over 200km of high voltage electricity cables carried inside a network of 32km of tunnels. The £1bn project was successfully delivered on time and underbudget, and is the most significant addition to London’s electricity system since the 1960s.

We were on hand at the new Highbury substation to deliver a seamless event for the official Royal opening, providing all signage elements, branding and event overlay. The event was a resounding success with positive feedback from not only the Directors and employees of National Grid, but also the Royal’s team.

Graham Frankland, Corporate Responsibility and Citizenship Manager at National Grid, stated, “It was great working with CSM Live and the team. Their flexibility and ‘can do’ attitude was great.”
