Clash at the Coliseum

The Clash at the Coliseum is an exhibition race that kicks off the NASCAR season. Taking place on a purpose-built quarter mile track inside the historic Los Angeles Coliseum, we were tasked to bring elements of NASCAR Pageantry and the fan experience to a new and unique venue for the sport.

What we did

Our production team was tasked to take their extensive knowledge of NASCAR pre-race and entertainment and adapt them in a way that fit into the iconic venue. Our scope included integration between FOX Broadcast and the in-arena fan presentation, appealing to both in-person and television audiences, and involving the complete integration of schedules and timings to ensure the action that’s happening makes it on television on time. Over the first two editions of the Clash, CSMP produced concerts for Ice Cube, Pitbull, Wiz Khalifa, Cypress Hill, Cheat Codes, Dixie D’Amelio, and also utilized the Coliseum Steps for Driver Introductions, rather than a traditional custom-built stage

The results

In a venue that’s not traditionally built to host NASCAR races, the client and audience were thrilled with CSM Production’s work, effective accomplishing the goal of creating an entertaining environment that encompasses both traditional NASCAR fans and a new-to-the-sport demographic of Los Angeles natives, many of whom had never attended a NASCAR race before.
