New York Road Runners (NYRR) hired CSM Properties to support the development of the non-profit’s go-to-market commercial strategy, as well as serve as their sponsorship sales agency of record, working to bring on year-round, official partners and drive sponsorship revenue back to the organization.

What We Did

CSM Properties has been retained by NYRR for nearly three years; from consultation on partnership packages to developing go-to-market sales strategies for priority categories, creative ideation/storytelling, to the negotiation and ultimately closing of new partnerships.

We continue to spearhead new commercial efforts across NYRR and their flagship events, including the TCS New York City Marathon.

The Results

Our efforts resulted in new, multi-year partnerships for NYRR, the leading community running organization in the world, securing exclusive, year-round partners. Partners secured span across industries, including the payment services/credit card (Mastercard) and automobile/vehicle (Volvo) categories for NYRR and the TCS New York City Marathon.

The result of these partnerships was incremental revenue driven back to the non-profit during a time when COVID-19 had dissipated mass participation events. This allowed the organization to remain hyper-focused on their mission to connect and inspire through running, including developing best-in-class virtual running products such as their virtual racing platform.
