Inspiring new cyclists with HSBC UK British Cycling

School Engagement programme to get more people cycling

On Wednesday 25th April, our HSBC UK British Cycling team hosted a cycling activity day in Cardiff with kids from three local schools aiming to inspire the next generation of cyclists. Over 110 children took part in various cycling related activities throughout the day which was followed by a Q & A with Welsh cyclist and former World Champion Rachel James, who recently returned from the Commonwealth Games.

Some of the children had never cycled before and it was great to see their confidence grow after a session with a professional coach. After the day of activities and Q and A, the children all left with smiles on their faces and the feedback from the teachers and kids has been really positive.

The event was hosted in preparation for the Let’s Ride cycling event in Cardiff on Sunday 13th May. This will be the first of 14 mass participation cycling events we will be working on across the UK this summer as we seek to hit the target of getting 2 million more people cycling by 2020! If you would like to take part in a Let's Ride event this year, you can sign up here.
