Delivering at DAYTONA 500

Over the course of the last 16 years, our North American Production team has been tasked with presenting new, fresh ideas for a number of events at Daytona International Speedway. For the DAYTONA 500, the Super Bowl of NASCAR, were we challenged to produce eye-catching driver introductions.

Prior to the creative process beginning, a few must-haves were identified:
  • Video screens on the left and right of the stage
  • Static signage on center stage for TV exposure
  • The iconic Harley J. Earl Trophy positioned at the center of the stage where drivers will meet
Based on that design, the final set would be 53 feet wide by 8 feet deep with a 172-foot catwalk. The driver corral backstage was noted as 30 feet long by 10 feet wide. In total, drivers would cover more than 200 feet on CSM-constructed assets.
For the DAYTONA 500, we had assets spanning 824 feet of pit road including a VIP introduction stage that highlighted the DAYTONA Rising project and its founding partners, a driver introduction set that paid homage to past champions, a live 25-minute concert with a nationally-televised song, the 2015 DAYTONA 500 Champion’s car display, 35 large flags honoring every DAYTONA 500 champion and a custom-built national anthem stage that is created new each year to highlight the DAYTONA 500 logo.
